America was founded upon Judeo-Christian Law, recognizing that all rights come from God alone, and that we were totally dependent on God. Growing up as a child these beliefs were often reflected in the television and movies we watched, and within society as a whole.
These days some of the most popular television shows and movies are about vampires, zombies and indiscriminate sexual relations regardless of gender. Yet we still say “God bless America!” But why would He when we are rapidly becoming a nation of pagans who worship our sin and wealth instead of the God who created us and will one day judge each of us?

What role should the Body of Christ play to counteract and reach a dying generation bent on self-destruction? We are joined this morning by Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach to discuss the challenges and urgency of the church reaching out to a decaying, dying society.
Manny1962, you are spot on. Both the public school and homeschooling educational systems support the teachings of 'America was founded upon Christian principals' which is a blatant lie from both schooling systems. What would happen if the truth were revealed concerning the treatment of slaves by George Washington personally, as well as his instructions to his plantation 'managers.?' The truth is shocking and is in no way Christian to say the least…..or Benjamin Franklin's lifestyle, did he live Jesus in every day living…..or Thomas Jefferson's teachings denying Jesus and His miracles…….or John Quincy Adam's denial of the Holy Spirit working in the life of true, born again believers…..the list goes on.
I too, bought into the false teachings of David Barton (Glenn Beck pridefully promotes this man as a great historian) in believing this nation began as a Christian nation, until I began to read, study, and understand the Scriptures by the power of God, the Holy Spirit. So I am no better than those who have been caught up in the affairs, lies, and power posturing of men and women desiring to lord over other people in promoting nationalism (how many churches fly the American flag on their grounds or display it beside the cross in the front of their builidings), patriotism, and dominionism.
I have heard it said that one of the largest mission fields in the world at this present time is "The United States of America." Enough said. May our LORD be with you Manny as you minister to others in the Name of Jesus, the Christ.
Amen Karen. We were taught as kids that the foundation of this country was God centered, it had ideals that were scriptural, but these have long banished. Like anything man made it was flawed from the onset, the only true government that will ever work is when The Lord sets up His kingdom, He does it not us. Too many mix Christianity with politics, it never ever has worked, how many times have we been let down by those politicians that purport to follow scripture? Or openly admit they're Christians? Though to be fair I can't remember any politicians coming right out and saying "I'm a Christian, I follow Christ exclusively." All you really hear is…."oh he's spiritual," or "oh, he's a man of faith"…..What does that mean?! We tend to believe politicians are a magic pill to the evil in this society, they're not. If people want to change America, it takes one thing……revival. What are the the odds this country en masse will repent of homosexuality, thievery, promiscuity, greed, divorce, murder, rape, kidnapping, Hollywood the great cesspool of filth, of blaspheming God in every way imagined? It will never happen. It likes it sin, men love darkness more than light. We need to reach out to individuals, they can be evangelized, they can be saved……….the country as whole, is the same as the world as a whole, it's beyond help, all of man's institutions are bankrupt, ungodly and hell bent. Can you imagine a politician saying, " if I'm elected, I will use the bible as my guide to govern, I will follow biblical precepts in all government affairs." It'll never happen. It will be the end of his political career.
This nation was never "Christian" as defined by the Word of God. Yes, there were Christians in this nation, but to believe this nation was sinless and a perfect utopia at its founding would be a lie. We have been indoctrinated to believe that America was founded upon Christian principals and yet, there was so much wickedness and evil in its early beginnings. We have been led to believe there was little or no sin at America's inception, and yet careful research indicates otherwise. __Why are we led to believe that America was founded upon rose colored principals? The Revolutionary War was the result of people of this country rebelling against inflated tax prices from England……a rebellion
The people rebelled against higher taxes. As we pay our increasing and inflated taxes, how should we act and react as born again Christians living in a nation founded upon violence, bloodshed, and utter paganism (most of our so called founders were products of the Enlightenment//Age of Reason period in Europe/New Age religion)?
Research the lives of the so called founding fathers, and it will easily become apparent that Jesus was not followed or worshiped as the LORD of their lives. The proof is in the fruit.
God does bless individuals, true followers, who are called the bride. This country murders it's children, elevates abomination above the law of God, and has utterly turned its back on Him. It sickens me when I see God Bless America bumper stickers, why should He?
Mike,
A “Christian Nation (Christ-Like nation, never was, never will be)” turned Pagan (always has, always will be).
I would like to know where the name of Jesus Christ is mentioned anywhere in the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of these United States?
Most countries around the world could probably make that same claim for Judeo-Christian Law. I would also like to know if what Jesus said in John 18:36 means anything to you; “Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
If God were for this country don’t you think Jesus would have signed that Declaration of Independence? God did not want Israel to have a king like the rest of the nations; He was to be their King and Supreme Commander. So if the U.S. is founded on those principles, why are they not being followed? It is the best moral way correct? The U.S. may have had more morals earlier in time, but now it seems those morals are not valued any longer. Even with those better morals the majority of citizens in the U.S. were lost in sin, and even more so now.
You are misleading people by making such statements. We are to put no faith and trust in any earthly government. It is an un-holy alliance. Jesus said in Matthew 6:22-24 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
Jesus Christ needs to reign supreme in our lives, nothing else.
We are citizens of Heaven. Currently, we are traveling towards our home, skirting the slippery edge of hell and only by the blood of Jesus Christ will we not slide into that everlasting death trap.
I understand what folks mean by "Christian Nation" but it really is naive to think of this nation in that way.
The reason it has gone the direction it has is because the people (not the leaders because God assigns leaders based on the people to be lead) have turned their back on moral principles that closely line up with the Bible.
So, the best thing you can do is to do what you should and don't worry about the rest of the country…you can only control yourself.
So, what are you going to do with yourself to follow Christ closer than yesterday?
Whatever else the case may be, we can't do anything or change the past. Time is short either way. Just use what is there. I do that with Christmas too. I have seen some silly debates on the blogs about 'to celebrate or not to celebrate' just because of pagan roots. Of course I don't celebrate anything pagan, but I do celebrate Christ's birth (whenever it was, probably the Fall feast time) and use the time to spread the gospel as well as the announcement of His birth, the Savior and Messiah to the world! John 3; 16 It's another opportunity.
God bless!!!
Yes, we need to do all we can in the time that is left. Reaching out to hurt people is one, there are so many who have left churches due to spiritual abuse, and even the faith because of that. Our hearts need to bleed for all of them. There is no ministry out there for them either, but I would love to start one. That is one thing I can't do alone though.
About the nation, I have heard arguments from both sides and seen evidence of both. All I can say is make the most of the day doing all the good you can with what you have. Use the fact that there are references to the bible in U.S. history as a platform to share the faith. It's one of those opportunities.
This hasn't been a Christian nation for many decades.
Really Christian Natio? I have heard and read that it was founded by freemasons on freemasonry.
The time is so near. We as a body need to reach out to family, friends, neighbors, coworkers. It is so late, we must get the word out, encourage believers, evangelize the lost, bear each other's burdens, small groups will do better in the long run, so many are leaving the decrepit mega churches and looking for a home, let's reach out to those in need of the word, the church is the largest field for evangelizing, years of neglect and false teaching have destroyed many people, as they leave we must reach out to them.
James Cameron and Riddley Scott are two movie producers/directors that through the myth of science fiction are distorting the bible. Cameron has produced shows trying to debunk Jesus for TV. Scott has been introducing the idea from Erich Von Daniken's book, Chariots of The Gods, in which ancient aliens are purported to have created human life. These men are very popular and are hailed as heroes in cinema circles, their movies sell in the hundreds of millions and within the science fiction community (mostly atheistic and evolutional) are seen as prophets of the future. One thing is certain, if Hollywood likes it and it's based on the bible, it's wrong, it's false and antichristian.
