Today we are challenging no one and affirming everyone and standing for nothing. Okay, we’re not, but our next generation is.
We have a whole generation of people who think they can be teenagers until they’re 50. There is a general sense that the youth of tomorrow’s generation refuse to grow up emotionally, socially and spiritually. Dave Wager is back with us to talk more about how this happened and what it means.
Dave is president of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute in northern Wisconsin. Dave is also co-hosts a radio program on our station designed to help young people understand the Truth of God’s Word. Check out HopeNet Radio Sunday evenings from 7 – 9 and have your teens tune in!

Hi Karen,
It's hard to differentiate between what calls itself the church and the world. There's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that the Apostasy has begun. Give it two to three years and all our jaws will be rolling on the floor. You'll see masses leaving The Gospel and running after lies. And the wolves will become more brash and outspoken even more than now.
berlorac,
Stunned to read of that poor woman's disappointment. How hurtful it must have been to be told to be like this world. Very shallow to say the least. Then we have this issue of adults (many of whom are in leadershi positions) in our churches paying to have needles tattoo colorful designs on their bodies because they too desire to be hip, cool, and with it in so called ministering to the younger generation for a jesus like figure. One deacon went so far as to say "god spoke to me and told me to get a tattoo with this Scripture verse."
I have to wonder what jesus he is witnessing for, what god told him the particular verse to have needled into his are, and what spirits he is listening to when he is reading his Bible because many of us are baffled by his so called testimony. In the obese state this leader is in currently, wouldn't the Holy Spirit be convicting him more about his weight rather than telling him to get a tattoo?
And you are spot on Manny, "Sin is no longer preached about only the social gospel. Sadly most churches are like that now." The women's so called conferences in our area feature social justice speakers, music, and programs…..and Jesus and His Gospel are absent from such money making activities. God help us all.
I think the woman's disappointment was not for herself but for all the women at that church. She spent two years there trying to make a difference, but all for nothing. How could they grow in the Lord with a pastor's wife over them who was so immature and who made sure to appoint other women to leadership roles who were even less Biblically literate than she? And this in a denomination that teaches line by line. It's seems all so unbelievable, but we know what the Scriptures say. "Now the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God…" You can read line by line but it means nothing if you're not born again and yielding to the Spirit.
When your church starts looking more and more like the world, run! Get out, don't look back, ask The Lord to guide you to different pasture! I'm heart broken to the core, the church I attended has turned emergent, all they care about is numbers on a bottom line, once the assistant pastor (now promoted to head) said he kept A Purpose Driven Life next to his bible, and every Christian should be reading it along with their bible, I knew it was time to go. There had been some red flags going up, but that was the straw, that's when I knew it was already compromised, sure enough, they changed the name of the church into something less "offensive." Sin is no longer preached about only the social gospel. Sadly most churches here are like that now.
Amen Manny! I see this more and more. You must be in NY. I'm in the opposite adjacent corner. And I see this in churches all the time, they are up on the platform 'leading worship' in these mini skirts and tight pants and all of that. Like it's just to get them in the door and drop their $. No one is setting an example for modesty and decency. They're all too busy trying to look young and hipster. Well it's not appreciated by those like me.
I know a woman who was having some trouble fitting into a church. It seemed that she just wasn't accepted for who she was, a strong believer who wanted nothing more than to study the Bible, love God, and be a blessing to others. So, she was talking to the pastor's wife about it and the pastor's wife told this woman that if this woman would wear more trendy clothes like the other women (read: tight-fitting, low-cut blouses, etc.) then she would be more accepted! She wishes she had been recording that conversation.
"So, she was talking to the pastor's wife about it and the pastor's wife told this woman that if this woman would wear more trendy clothes like the other women (read: tight-fitting, low-cut blouses, etc.) then she would be more accepted!"
When you hear something from those associated with the leadership of any church say the above, RUN, RUN, RUN FAR AWAY FROM THERE!
What did the Church do in the book of Acts? They didn't have their hope in politics, signing petitions or boycotting; their hope was in the GOSPEL!!!
Very well said, Amy!
In agreement with you Manny. I personally, am in awe and wonderment over Joyce Meyers' new youthful face look! With all of that television 'ministry' she does, I guess it is important for her to look her very best for the cameras as she preaches that Jesus came to give us health, wealth and prosperity.
And the women at my former church just can't figure out why I won't attend their Joyce Meyer bible-less studies, nor receive the books they try to push on me 'as gifts', or receive their strong 'suggestions' of which books to read of Mrs. Meyers……then claim to be 'offended' when their 'witness' is not highly esteemed.
And I also agree about the selfish aspect, for the 'self esteem' movement has impacted very generation and the few Christians that are humble and truly reflect the person of Christ among us, are considered insecure, unsuccessful, and not worthy of listening too.
Exactly when did Jesus and His disciples and apostles use the prefix "Dr." before their names when ministering to people? Jesus' ways are in direct opposition to the ways we see exhibited by man.
Good on you for "testing all things" – A lot of people are deceived simply because of ignorance to what the word of God says. A lot of people still back false ministers like benny hinn, joyce meyers!
Karen, regarding the women who "just can't figure out why I won't attend their Joyce Meyer….", how are you ministering the Truth to these women to counter their arguments? You didn't mention what you are providing in terms of Truth to make your case to them. I have a sense you are and just didn't mention it, but I am curious what you have told them. Do you mind sharing?
I'm 52, turning 53 this year. Many of my friends haven't "grown" up yet. In my opinion the problem is not generational, I believe it's more and more men trying to hold on to "youth," like a perpetual "mid-life crisis," society has something to do with this, once growing old gracefully was an honorable thing, today "old" age is belittled. A great example of this is Japan, they absolutely revered their older generation, now a days Japan has followed the West, the Attitude toward the elderly or the older has radically changed, there have been many articles written in secular media regarding this. Biblically speaking the older generation always held a position of honor, through much hard living wisdom is cultivated. Seeing that we live in a post Christian society, the values that were once held dear have been discarded, today it's not seen as honorable to grow old gracefully, the plastic surgery business is booming, tucks, nips, lifts, augmentation, reduction…..etc,etc. it's a symptom of men (and women) being lovers of themselves, as the cliche goes 40 is the new 20 or something to the effect. I've been to many churches where the clothing is just not appropriate for godly women to wear, everyone wants the latest fashion to look young, but they don't realize it tempts all the men around them to think improperly, I think Paul wrote about this. I think asChristians and in light of the serious changes taking place all around us, we should focus not on ourselves, but how to stand together in the coming days, it is written merriment and frivolity will be replaced by sorrow and tribulation. I don't mean to sound dour, but we should be more concerned with what's coming down the pike, instead of worrying if our hairs are turning grey, or we don't look like 30 at 50, I live in one of the most hedonistic cities in the U.S., compromised, ungodly, known for its worship of mammon, blind and corrupt, I could not as a Christian post here what billboards advertise in my "lovely" city. It's a sign of the times (no pun intended!) Attitudes are also a sign of the times!
