Twenty years ago if a Presidential candidate called himself a Socialist, he would have lasted in the race for about two minutes. These days we have two Democratic candidates tripping all over themselves to prove they are a bigger socialist than the other. Youth are flocking to the campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders, an avowed Socialist who advocates dismantling Wall Street and the banking system and offering free college tuition for all people.

Youth have always trended more progressive until they age, but what we are seeing these days is alarming. Socialism is one small step from full blown Marxism where the government becomes the “god” you better never question. This morning we will explore the strange attraction youth these days have to socialism, and we will also check in with Doug Wakefield for his assessment on the shaky world financial systems many believe are about to be shaken to the core.
“Morality and the Judeo-Christian values, which the average millennial has learned so little about, mean nothing in their grand scheme of governing a society.” Dan Celia
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4
[If] My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Evil will triumph until Jesus returns, of that you can be sure. As for socialism it's been here for quite some time. One sad thing I see in Christendom, the inability to divorce from the world. Another true axiom: people do not learn from history and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Good men have long been corrupted by the siren of politics, the good that's left in this world is the salt of the remnant.
I have wondered to myself if the message that political correctness or cultural Marxism is progressively moving us towards a socialist state, would that even be abhorrent to rank-and-file voters and cause them to put on the brakes and stand in opposition? Seems not to be the case today! Joel Pollak, senior-editor-at-large for the Breitbart News Network, recently discussing American politics with Ezra Levant, pointed out that of all the frontrunners for the presidency of the United States, he actually thinks that Democrat Bernie Sanders, an avowed socialist (who Donald Trump has called a “communist maniac”), “has the best shot at winning the presidency”! Why? Although acknowledging that it “may sound a little crazy”, Pollak pointed out that “Americans don’t really know what socialism is any more. The cold war is in the rear view mirror 25 years ago and young Americans who are drawn to Sanders’ candidacy have no idea about the impact of what he is proposing. They think free college is a great thing, universal health care is easily workable; everything is free, free, free. They don’t understand what you have to do to make it free and how un-free it really is”! http://www.therebel.media/alberta_ndp_to_invest_5…
(Segment from 20:25- to 21:29 minutes) You have young people virtually begging for socialism, as they are taught by leftist professors that capitalism is greedy and even racist, highlighting the importance of the educational system as a medium for cultural Marxism’s “long march through the institutions”. Consistent with what Joel Pollak said, it turns out that even socialist Bernie Sanders’ own supporters haven’t a clue as to what socialism is!: http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/video-sanders-sup…
Likewise, according to this video, incredibly, “Hillary Clinton supporters sign petition to endorse Karl Marx as her VP”, showing how people have been so conditioned by the media and the educational institutions that like dumbed-down lemmings they will happily march off the cliff towards the socialist utopia: http://www.therebel.media/watch_hillary_clinton_s…
As well, when asked to explain the difference between a Democrat and a Socialist, Hillary Clinton wouldn’t or couldn’t answer: http://dailycaller.com/2016/01/05/hillary-cant-ex…
According to Dr. David Deming, a professor of arts and sciences at the University of Oklahoma, “The enthusiasm of our youth for the candidacy of Bernie Sanders is a symptom of our failure to educate them, not only in history, government and economics, but also basic morality”: http://newsok.com/article/5475578
As pointed out by Robert Knight in a recent article in The Washington Times, “Keeping a Lid On The Truth About Socialism”, the young are being lured by the siren song of what they see as a ‘new’ idea, whereby, “Young Democrats overwhelmingly supported the avowed socialist senator from Vermont, with 84 percent of those under 30 backing him.” http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/feb/7/ro…
Overall, this shows the effectiveness of cultural Marxism’s “long march through the institutions” in transforming the culture to make it receptive to socialism. One is reminded of the quote attributed to Edmund Burke (1729-1797), an 18th century Anglo-Irish politician, orator and political thinker: “Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” It is incredible how many “useful idiots”, as Lenin called them, pine for a socialist utopia even though time and again history has revealed it turns out to be a brutal dystopia. People need a reminder and wake-up as to the endpoint of socialism as described in this 5-minute video, “Tribute to Communism”:
Communism was the bloodiest ideology that caused more than 120 million innocent deaths in the 20th century. It was a nightmare which promised equality and justice, but which brought only bloodshed, death, torture and fear. Another of Edmund Burke’s most famous sayings is that “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
We've been living in a democratic socialist republic for a while now, social security, Medicare, Medicaid, the IRS, now socialized medicine, need I say more acronyms? Why are we so surprised? Because Bernie calls himself a socialist?! Lol, at least he's called a spade a spade! Hillary is one, so is Obama, so was Clinton, so was Bush! Folks, there's no left or right, there hasn't been for a very very long time, we've had the wool pulled over our eyes! The political process in this country is purely smoke and mirrors, the real governance comes from behind the curtain, and not many have the courage to look back there, the implications are just too unbelievable. So we keep believing we live in this democracy of ours as if nothing is different. That's why nothing changes no matter which label is current……….
I'm not sure why you would say that socialism seems to be appealing to this generation of youth over against any other youth. Does anyone remember the 60s?? Socialism has been popular among young people for the last 50 years, not just today. I remember going back to college 25 years ago, sitting in a sociology class with 18-20 year olds. The subject of government was being discussed and they all wanted to know from the professor why they couldn't have democratic socialism. They wanted exactly what Sanders is now promoting. This is nothing new.
The appeal is that everyone will be helped and taken care of (supposedly), but what these youth (and even some older adults) don't understand is economics. These young people are not being taught the pitfalls of such a system. They don't know what's going on in Europe. These kids are taught only the virtues of socialism in our public schools. Why would you be surprised that they like Bernie Sanders?
