Jay co-founded the Creation Education Center in 2007. Over the past 29 years, Jay has spoken in numerous churches, conferences, secular schools, Christian schools, universities and various other venues, with audiences ranging from 50 to over 5,000.
Jay Seegert from the Creation Education Center joins us today to discuss the importance of biblical doctrine regarding the age of the earth, creation of the world, and why this matters to Christians. Should we take the Bible literally or can the earth be millions of years old? Does the Bible give us clear, detailed information on these questions?
God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven. Genesis 1:31 – 2:4
But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. Mark 10:6
Jesus Christ is both Creator and God. Colossians 1:16 tells us by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth. And John 1:3 affirms this truth: All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
2 Peter 3:5-10 (scroll over to read!) Keep looking up…
But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3:13
In our final segment, we’ll also discuss “tolerance” and how progressives always call for it, but rarely grant it to those who oppose their views. Why don’t more people address their hypocrisy? We dive into David Fiorazo’s article, “Liberals Censor Speech But Claim Diversity.”
Benjamin Franklin once stated:
Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.
We need to remember the worldview war is happening all around us, particularly where America is concerned. It is a spiritual battle playing out in the physical realm. It is about power, control, and influence. Someone has said, “The issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution.” Enemies of Jesus Christ have push a godless worldview as they seek to squelch biblical Christianity at the same time. The current debate seems to be about sex and bathrooms, but it is about the Left’s agenda to change culture and reshape morality.
Nancy Pelosi recently admitted the Democrats have a”four-legged stool of what we wanted to accomplish.” Sadly for Christians and freedom in America, they have made serious progress including the promotion of so-called “marriage equality,” the repeal of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act), Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and “to pass a fully inclusive hate crimes legislation…”
Our northern neighbor has a new progressive Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who introduced a brand new bill that would punish anyone who disagrees with gender identity or expression, classifying dissent as “hate speech.” This could land a practicing Christian in jail for two years.
American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer writes:
The bill would classify as “hate speech” any public speech or communication that “promotes hatred” on the basis of “gender identity” or “gender expression.”
Problematically for people of faith, secular fundamentalists label disagreement as hate and the truth as hate speech. Since the new law applies to public speech and communication, Canadian preachers are now in danger of incarceration merely for reading Genesis 1:27 from the pulpit. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
According to the Creator of every living human being, there are two and only two genders. Not five (as in LGBTQ) or 31, as New York City is now proposing, nor 58 as Facebook famously believes.
The conclusion of David Fiorazo’s article:
The greater issue goes beyond common sense, free speech, and battles over bathrooms and the public square; it involves questions about human life, the existence of God, and eternity as well as the value and purpose of every life.
Most of us are encountering brand new discussions related to sex and gender. Are we ready to have these important conversations, and prepared to respond with biblical, compassionate answers to those who are truly searching? As important as it is to stand up for truth and religious freedom; as important as it is to ensure the safety of all women and young children regarding public restrooms and locker rooms, we must first seek to meet their more pressing spiritual need.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance… Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, 2 Peter 3:9,12
