Dr. Michael Brown

Michael L. Brown is the founder and president of FIRE School of Ministry in Concord, North Carolina, Director of the Coalition of Conscience, and host of the daily, nationally, syndicated talk radio show, the Line of Fire, as well as the host of the apologetics TV show, “Answering Your Toughest Questions,” which airs on the NRB TV network. He became a believer in Jesus 1971 as a sixteen year-old, heroin-shooting, LSD-using Jewish rock drummer. Since then, he has preached throughout America and around the world, bringing a message of repentance, revival, reformation, and cultural revolution.

We know the Bible is eternal truth, inerrant and clear in its teachings. But recently many people are incorrectly re-interpreting the Bible to justify sin and immorality, confusing an entire generation.

Today, Dr. Michael Brown joins us to take a look at what the Bible says about homosexuality, gender confusion, and a culture bent on moral relativism where being honest with oneself is more of a priority than acknowledging the truth of Jesus Christ.

Brown introduces his new article this way:

Consider this scenario. A married man and father announces that he is leaving his wife and children in order to be “true to himself.” He has found another love, the most genuine love he has ever known, and he has already moved in with his new lover.

How would society react to him? —

“You, sir, are an unfaithful, disloyal adulterer. You should be ashamed of yourself, leaving your wife and kids for another woman.”

He replies, “But it’s not for another woman. It’s for another man. I’m gay and I’ve come to terms with my identity. I won’t go on with the charade any longer, and I’m proud of my decision.”

How does society react now?

“You, sir, are a courageous hero. You have set an example for others to follow, and you should be commended for your boldness and integrity.”

So, if you commit adultery and abandon your family out of heterosexual desires, you are a despicable human being. But if you do it out of homosexual desires, you are a hero and champion.

…Needless to say, when it comes to marriages affected by transgender issues, normal standards disappear as well. Thus the man who breaks his promise and his wife’s heart after decades of marriage and destroys his relationship with his kids is deemed a courageous hero if he did it, he says, because he could no longer live as a man and had to identify as a woman.

This is all part of a larger societal narrative in which freedoms of speech, religion and conscience are consistently trumped by gay and transgender “rights.”

As the Charlotte Observer infamously counseled, girls will just have to get over the “discomfort” of seeing male genitalia in their locker rooms. The only issue that apparently matters now is that the transgender-identified student feels safe and affirmed, regardless of how this affects everyone else.

This is a good time to share the truth of Scripture again from Romans 1:18-32:

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is [r]unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.”

Dr. Brown touched on the subject of ‘sex-change’ surgery and whether is is a sin:

Let’s begin with stating the obvious: The Bible does not say anything specific about sex-change surgery (or about body-altering surgery in general).

What the Bible does say is that: 1) God created human beings male and female; 2) male-female distinctions are of foundational importance; 3) male-female distinctions should be celebrated. (When Paul taught that there is no male or female in Christ, he did not mean that there are no distinctions between the sexes. To the contrary, he often gave different instructions to men and women. What he meant was that there is full equality in Christ for men and women, slaves and free, Jews and Gentiles; see Galatians 3:28.)

…But that does not mean for a second that we embrace the contemporary war on gender, a war that denigrates gender distinctions as oppressive and constricting. Rather, we recognize that the war on gender is a war against God’s intended order for humanity.

Obviously, God alone is the Judge, and only He knows exactly what is happening inside someone’s brain – be it a physical malfunction or an emotional malfunction – but I cannot possibly believe that God’s best solution for a biological and chromosomal female who identifies as a male is for her to have her breasts removed, her genitalia radically (and imperfectly) altered, and her body pumped with male hormones for the rest of her life…

In the second half of today’s program, we discussed how people ‘coming out of the closet’ as gay are now celebrated by the world, especially in cases where the person was a professing Christian…

Author, Peter Heck stated: By “coming out,” the lead singer of [former Christian band] Everyday Sunday has decided to allow his sinful urge the power to devastate his wife, confuse his children, destroy his ministry, and take the throne room of his soul away from Christ…

But rather than be honest with himself, Pearson has actually chosen to deceive himself (and sadly so many others) into believing that his sinful urge defines him, controls him and owns him. He has decided to allow it the power to devastate his wife, forever confuse and injure his children, destroy his ministry and take the throne room of his soul away from Christ.

If that latter point seems dramatic, that’s only because it is. Pearson told Religion News Service, “God wants me to be … my truest self.” No, He doesn’t. That belief is divorced from any notion of biblical truth. Such a statement does not come from a mind surrendered to the will of Christ, but a mind drowned in sinful pride.

God tells us repeatedly that the only way to live is to die (Galatians 2:20). God desires not that we exalt ourselves but that we die to self (Ephesians 4:22-24). Believers are to crucify the flesh along with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24). Jesus Himself told us that anyone who wants to save his life will lose it (Mark 8:35), and that anyone who does not take his cross and follow is not worthy of Him (Matthew 10:38).

The Christian life is about denial of self (Colossians 3:5). Trey Pearson has chosen instead to deny God and exalt himself. And he has done so at the cost of everything God had graciously given him: a loving wife, children, witness, ministry, and platform.

Heck concludes:

…when the invitations onto The View, the interviews with Huffington Post, the congratulatory tweets from celebrities fade, Pearson will be a man alone grappling with his public denial of Christ, and with the sin he has chosen to embrace, vainly hoping it will fill a void only Jesus can fill.

Pray first for his innocent family. Then pray for him, pray for those who might reach him in those vulnerable moments to come – that they will exhibit the courage to speak the truth that hurts but heals, and pray that Pearson may come to trust the Word of God over the words of men.
