Linda Harvey

In 1995, Linda Harvey founded Mission:America, a non-profit organization whose objective is to equip Christians with current, accurate information about cultural issues such as feminism, homosexuality, education, and New Age influences.

Linda is an author, speaker and radio host who has reported on sexual identity politics for twenty years. Raised in a liberal home, Linda became a Christian and changed her mind and heart about some of the most volatile issues of our time. A former teacher who became an advertising executive, then head of a Christian pro-family group, Linda has been interviewed by media outlets from coast to coast. Since 2009, she has been the host of the Mission America radio show broadcast throughout Ohio.

Though there are atheists and activists protesting Christmas and religious symbols every year at this time, these battles are not limited to the Christmas season. There have always been those wanting to eradicate true Christianity from culture including believers who strive to live up to the teachings of Scripture. The agenda of the Left is to remove all evidence of the one true God and biblical morality from the public square.  atheist-billboard

The meaning of religious freedom and expression under the Constitution is an ongoing argument in America, but many of us believe it should not even be debated. We have the right to speak and live out our deeply held convictions in public, but do to misinformation and a lack of teaching America’s true history, most people think the ‘Separation of Church and State’ is in our Constitution. It’s not. (See Thomas Jefferson’s private letter to the Baptist Association in Danbury, Connecticut.)

In the past, it seems Madison, Wisconsin was ground zero for many heated political battles, but there are four recent stories from Ohio to  discuss. Today we have Linda Harvey of Mission America.

DISCUSSION POINTS for today’s interview:

1.  The Ohio Legislature has passed and sent to Gov. John Kasich’s desk a measure that would ban abortion after a baby’s heartbeat is detected, about six weeks following conception.Lawmakers passed the Unborn Heartbeat Protection Act on Tuesday as an amendment to a child abuse and neglect bill. If signed by Kasich, the legislation would “generally prohibit an abortion of an unborn human individual with a detectable heartbeat,” according to the language of the bill.

2.  Another Ohio bill known as the “Pastor Protection Act” has cleared a state House committee, but lawmakers are uncertain if there is enough time to pass the legislation before the end of the year. H.B. 286 protects pastors from punishment if they decline to officiate a wedding that is deemed unbiblical or don’t allow their church buildings to be used for such ceremonies. “No ordained or licensed minister … or religious society … is required to solemnize a marriage that does not conform to the ordained or licensed minister’s or religious society’s sincerely held religious beliefs,”

3.  “This is how progressives think. Yet most of us would disagree: Children should learn to distrust their parents, keep secrets from them and make decisions without parental input. Parents, as we all know, stand in the way of progress, dreams and desires. Transgender and homosexual activists, on the other hand, are totally trustworthy, even if they pose as teachers, health professionals or school counselors.

Two recent issues highlight this trend. One is a lawsuit just filed in Minnesota by mother Anmarie Calgaro against a school, several health providers and social service agencies. Why? Because her minor son is receiving medical treatment with the objective of “becoming” a female, and Calgaro was blocked from input into this life-changing decision.

…the abortion industry and now homosexual advocacy groups claim to be acting in a minor’s best interests while initiating intrusive and life-altering medical treatment for that child. It may be an abortion on a 14-year-old, or in some states now (like Oregon), administration of hormone treatment of young teens for purported “sex change,” all without any parent’s knowledge or consent.

How is this a good thing? It won’t be long before 13- or 14-year-old boys can be surgically castrated without parental consent, all because they “needed” this horrific procedure, which many would consider child mutilation and abuse. The destructive trend will continue until concerned taxpaying parents start saying, “No way.”
