One of those battles heating up in our culture is over sex and gender identity. Joe Biden recently declared, “Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time.” Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
TODAY’S GUEST – Laura Perry, an author, speaker and former transgender hoping to encourage others to avoid believing the same lies and making the same mistakes she made. In her painful past and “transition,” Laura admits she created a god in her own image.
Even though she grew up attending church, she thought she wanted to be a boy. She decided to eventually have the hormone treatments, surgeries and lived the lie she convinced herself was true. Laura legally changed her name and people once knew her as “Jake.”
Now with First Stone Ministries, she’s been transformed by Christ, and joins us to discuss this important issue.
Her book, Transgender to Transformed, is the story of Laura’s “transition” as she changed her name and had surgeries to live as transgender (“Jake”) for nearly nine years before being radically set free by Jesus Christ.
“God has peeled away the layers of the proverbial onion. He has helped me understand the causes and has healed me and brought forgiveness and wholeness to my heart. He has revealed His heart for women and how wonderful His creation of the woman is and how beautiful it is. For the first time in my life, I not only love being a woman, but can truly see what a girl I was all along.”
Looking back, Laura now says, “What promised me freedom became my prison.”
Dr. Everett Piper (who wrote the foreword for Laura’s book) once stated:
“Anything short of a unified stand for the essentials of our faith — for orthodoxy — will doom any and every Christian counselor, college, church, parishioner or spokesman to the ash heap of history. Compromise will be our demise. We will be “thrown out and trampled underfoot” by a culture that laughs at our irrelevance. We are supposed to preserve culture, not take part in its rot. …We are supposed to confront sin, not capitulate to it.”
Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD … they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. Proverbs 1:29,31
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26
Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts; Romans 6:11-12
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. Colossians 3:1-5
Our 2019 Podcast: “Transgender No More” – Laura shares her story in excruciating detail
As a former transgender myself, I fully understand the desire to dress and be affirmed as the opposite sex. However, after many years of hormones, surgeries, and living as male I came to the inevitable conclusion that it wasn’t real. No amount of affirmation or body modification ever made me a man. So, while we want to be kind and compassionate, we cannot just roll over and allow the courts to trample on the rights of innocent bystanders who just want privacy in what should be private facilities reserved for those of the same sex.
