TODAY’S GUEST: Todd Nettleton is the Director of Media and Public Relations for The Voice of the Martyrs and host of VOM Radio. Todd serves as a voice for persecuted Christians, working with the media to tell people in the United States about the faithfulness of Christ’s followers in 60+ nations where they face persecution.

We know that the testing of our faith produces strength and endurance. Most of us can use a perspective check as we live comfortable lives in a free republic. But we know it won’t always be this way, so how do we prepare for persecution?

CHINA: special prayer need for the family of an imprisoned pastor there. Also: I’d love to share how Christians in China have taken advantage of Covid restrictions to be more bold about their gospel ministry work.

SUDAN: Transitional government says they will separate the laws of the country from Islamic Shariah law…which is obviously a HUGE positive thing for Christians. There have been several positive developments in Sudan in recent weeks, and Christians there are saying that right now there is a window for ministry. They are trying to take advantage of that window, knowing that it could close at some point in the future.

TURKEY: An American woman who is married to a Turkish pastor is facing expulsion from Turkey—they actually called her a threat to national security! (Listen to an interview with her for VOM Radio)

ERITREA: Christian prisoners released recently after LONG years in prison; there is hope that perhaps the government will release more (currently almost 600 Christians in prison there).

IRAN: A recent, secular survey of Iranians confirmed how fast the church is growing inside Iran. Christians there have also used COVID as a doorway for ministry and evangelism.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[c]—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS is coming up November 1 (since that is right before the election many American churches will choose Nov. 8 or 15). All the resources from VOM, including a short film focusing on Christians in the Central African Republic, are available now online at www.Persecution.com/IDOP.
