In a departure from basic biology and accurate identification, the U.S. State Department is “promoting the freedom, dignity, and equality of all people — including LGBTQI+ persons — by allowing passport applicants to choose the gender that suits them.
In a statement, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the Department is updating its procedures for issuing passports and “Consular Reports of Birth Abroad” (CRBA) to ensure “the fair treatment of LGBTQI+ U.S. citizens, regardless of their gender or sex.”
