Unless we are firmly grounded in God’s Word and are walking closely with the Lord we will be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the coming deception. We’ve been forewarned about these times and events in 2 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 13 and 14, Matthew 24 and other passages. It is never God’s intent that we be caught off-guard.
Fortunately, the same Bible that gives us these warnings also offers us incredible hope. We know that when Jesus returns, He will overthrow Satan’s world order and establish His millennial reign of peace on Earth. The events leading up to and including His return as Messiah are recorded in Zechariah 14:1-11; Joel 3:1-21; Revelation 19:11-21, 20:1-6 and Matthew 24:30-35, along with other passages. The apostle Paul in his writings describes this history-climaxing event in 2 Thessalonians 2:8.
And then the lawless one [the Antichrist] will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.
So, we can rest assured that God will win and all who remain faithful to Jesus will receive their reward. We will be with Him for all eternity. This is our great hope as believers. Between now and then, however, things are going to become difficult, so we must continue to stand firm in the faith, never succumbing to the lies and perversions of our enemy.
