President, Wisconsin Family Action & Wisconsin Family Council

Founded in 2006, Wisconsin Family Action exists to inform Wisconsin citizens about pro-family legislative and cultural issues, involve Wisconsin citizens in activities that strengthen the family, prepare Wisconsin citizens for elections, as the law provides, and advocate in the state legislature on cultural and legislative issues that affect the family. WFA advances Judeo-Christian principles and values in Wisconsin by strengthening, preserving, and promoting marriage, family, life and liberty.

It’s important we look at a recent study that discusses the many ways professing Christianity is not only failing our nation, but many who attend church services every week.  As the professing church continues to conform and compromise with the world Jesus told us we are to hate, a growing number of churches sacrifice the pursuit of holiness for entertainment and secular growth programs.

Mike and David touch on this dangerous path a growing number of churches and denominations are currently on – leading people away from God rather than drawing them nearer to Him and equipping the saints for ministry.  Just as disappointing, we will address recent comments from Pope Francis’ January 1 “Mary Mother of God” Mass, including “we can do no better than to put our hands in hers and to acknowledge her as our life.”

In our first segment, Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council shares a tragic decision by the State of Wisconsin to provide “gender reassignment” coverage for people under state Medicaid.

‘Pope Francis’ Asserts During New Year’s ‘Mary, Mother of God’ Mass: She Is ‘Our Life, Our Sweetness and Our Hope’

But wait, there’s more…

“Especially in times of need, when we are entangled in life’s knots, we rightly lift our eyes to our lady,” he stated;  “Yet first, we should let ourselves be gazed upon by our lady.” “The eyes of our lady know how to bring light to every dark corner; everywhere they rekindle hope,” Bergoglio continued. “As she gazes upon us, she says, ‘Take heart, dear children; here I am, your mother!’”

Bergoglio’s remarks, including at today’s mass, wrongly instructed Roman Catholics to place their gaze upon Mary as their hope, when it should rather be upon Christ alone. Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries states:

“Instead of encouraging Catholics to be amazed at Mary, the pope should encourage them to be utterly amazed at our holy, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, eternal, and merciful God who sovereignly controls everything that takes place in the universe that He created,” he stated. Gendron outlined that while Bergoglio said that “when we are entangled in life’s knots, we rightly lift our eyes to our lady,” the Scriptures rather instruct in Hebrews 12 that men are to “fix [their] eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith…

Perhaps more significant is the fact that even among self-professed Christians morality is at an all-time low. As revealed by numerous surveys, it appears that there is little in terms of lifestyle and conduct to distinguish a “Christian” from a non-Christian. According to a 2014 Barna report, in the early 1990s about two out of 10 adults were churchless. In the early 2000s, it was three in 10. Today, the unchurched make up nearly half of the adult population. Including children, that number comes to 156 million. “The raw number of unchurched people in the United States is staggering. Most of what gets counted as ‘church growth’ is actually transfer growth, rather than conversion growth—that is, people transferring their allegiance from one church to another, not transitioning from non-Christian to Christ follower.”
