[NEW BOOK!] The Bible Graphically Presented

Dr. White’s Ask the Theologian broadcast

Mike and David look at a joint statement from Evangelical and Catholic leaders condemning New York’s expanded abortion law.  But is making a strong statement enough if it is not backed up by righteous action?  Instead of merely condemning the actions of New York legislators, should churches start to hold church members accountable if they approve of abortion or continue to support political candidates that endorse the slaughter of innocent children in the womb?  Should church discipline be used to make a strong statement to church members about this crucial biblical issue?

In our first two segments, we look at sexuality, gender and marriage according to God’s Word.  No surprise that polls show a majority of people in our nation who call themselves Christians approve of homosexual marriage, and an increasing number actually believe that a person’s gender could be “fluid,” insinuating that perhaps God made mistakes – if He in fact did create us.  Pastor Randy White joins us to bring us back to the fundamentals of God’s Word regarding sexuality, gender, marriage and family.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; Genesis 1:26-28

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. Hebrews 5:13-14

Statement on the New York State Abortion Law of 2019

As Evangelicals and Catholics together, we wish to condemn this radical and extremist law in the strongest possible terms. We endorse the letter of the Catholic bishop of Albany, Edward Scharfenberger, who wrote,

Although in your recent State of the State address you [Gov. Cuomo] cited your Catholic faith and said we should “stand with Pope Francis,” your advocacy of extreme abortion legislation is completely contrary to the teachings of our pope and our Church. Once truth is separated from fiction and people come to realize the impact of the bill, they will be shocked to their core. By that time, however, it may be too late to save the countless lives that will be lost or spare countless women lifelong regret.

As Christians, we affirm that every person, both born and in the womb, is made in the image and likeness of God. There is no justification whatsoever for killing those who are unwanted or deemed to be a burden.
